Hi! Thanks for reading.

My name is Lauren Moya Ford and I’m an artist and writer based in Galicia, Spain. This page is dedicated to my writing about art and culture in the Iberian Peninsula and beyond with a special focus on painting, crafts, nature, and spirituality.

More about me

Since 2019, more than 300 of my exhibition and book reviews, essays, and interviews have been published in print and online by Apollo, Art Papers, BOMB, CARLA (Contemporary Art Review Los Angeles), Flash Art, Frieze, Glasstire, Hyperallergic, Mousse, and others. I have contributed texts to exhibition catalogs published in the United States, Spain, and Portugal, and have presented my writing work at the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford University, Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, Southwestern University, the University of Houston, the University of Texas at Austin, and The Menil Collection, among other institutions.

Originally from Texas, I moved to Spain in 2015 and now live in the country’s northwestern region of Galicia. My writing projects focus on under-recognized contemporary artists who — like myself — live and work outside of major art centers.

As an artist, I have exhibited my visual artwork in Austin, Houston, Lisbon, Madrid, Montreal, Philadelphia, Porto, and Tokyo, among other places. My art practice — which spans drawing, ceramics, book making, and printmaking — explores themes of memory, the body, and nature. Find my artwork at www.laurenmoyaford.com.
